Story Not Known to Many

January 18, 2016

After Steve left, I had this urge to really find out more about what does monotheistic religion mean.  So here is what I found out.  Check out this cool book that my cousin Muhammad did for me.  Let me know what you think.  I would love to hear your feedback.

More about topies

January 11, 2016

I can't believe Steve said I am fashionable. I guess I am.  I love combining clothes from different places which can sure make a fashion statement.  Anyway, I thought I should share some information with you in regards to what a topi is.

Topi are often worn for religious purposes

Muslims believe that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to keep his head covered.  Many Muslims followed this tradition.   These sometimes shiny hats are called different names in different places.  Sometimes they are not shiny at all.

In Arabic it is called taqiya.
Muslims in South East Asia (Bangladesh, Pakistand, India) call it topi.
In Afghanistan, men wear a wool beret called a pakol, which also refers to a cotton prayer cap.
Muslim men in Somalia often wear the koofiyad a cotton prayer cap.
In Malaysia Men wear the songkok.
Muslim men in Russia wear the tubeteika.

Other religions also wear something similar to the topi.
The Jews use a cap called a kippah.
Sikh followers wear a turban to cover their hair.
Christians bishop and Cardinals wear zucchetto.

Why I like baking...

January 4, 2016

Not many take me as the kind of guy that likes the kitchen.

Maybe you don't think it is masculine enough. Muslim men aren't typically thought to be good at anything except barbecuing meat. To be honest we are good at that...
But hey let's break down some stereotypes here. Muslim men can bake too!
I don't often give away my recipes but if you follow my blog you'll get all the inside scoop... make that 2 scoops... of sugar, i mean!
Have a great day,
Mujeeb
